What Dermal Fillers Can Do for Lips, Cheeks, and the Lower Face
Maybe your lips have thinned, or never had much shape, and your cheeks look flatter in photos. Or maybe you’ve sworn you’d never get filler, because it always seems to look done.
Filler is a gel placed under the skin. Ours are hyaluronic acid, a sugar your skin already has, and the FDA has approved each filler for its own uses.
Depending on your face, filler can give you:
- Volume back in cheeks and temples that have lost it, and fullness in your lips or chin
- Fuller lips and softer lines around your mouth
- Definition back along a jawline that has softened
- Softer smile lines and folds
- A change you see right away that lasts months, depending on the filler and the area
You won’t need all of them. At your consultation, you’ll find out which one or two matter most for your face.
What Dermal Fillers Can Do for Lips, Cheeks, and the Lower Face
Two Juvéderm fillers are made for lips:
approved for lip fullness and fine lines around the mouth
Both are for adults over 21. You can choose a mini or a full lip enhancement, and your injector picks the filler and amount for your lips.
We always say the best lips are built over time. They aren’t always one and done, and a little at a time keeps them looking like yours, so a first lip treatment can be small, on purpose.
Always had slim lips? See our page on thin lips.
Plenty of first-timers walk in nervous, and patients say they were walked through each step. Both fillers also contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine, for comfort.

How We Plan Natural-Looking Filler, a Little at a Time
Jenny tells patients they’re not buying the filler. What they’re paying for is the judgment of the hands that place it.
So the plan starts small. Your injector looks at where your face has lost support, adds a little there, and builds over visits rather than all at once. The goal is that people notice you look better, not that you’ve had filler.
At your consultation, your injector plans your areas with you. Want a plan for your whole face, often called facial balancing? Jenny designed the Tectonic Facial Assessment for that. It adds medical imaging and a skin analysis, and you go home with a written plan.
How much filler is it, really, and why more than one syringe?
Much less than most people picture. Jenny places it only where a face is missing support, which can mean several syringes over two visits, and the patient in this clip still looks like herself.
Can a little filler in my chin and jaw make a difference?
For the patient in this clip, a conservative amount in the chin and the back of the jawline supported the lower face, with room for more later. In a woman’s face, Jenny places filler so it doesn’t widen it.
