Pre/Post

Pre/Post Treatment Care

Pre Botox/Dysport – Avoid taking Aspirin, Excedrin, Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) such as Motrin for 5 days prior to procedure.

Avoid any alcohol consumption for 5-7 days before your procedure.

Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginko Biloba, St Johns Wart, Ginseng,Glucosamine, Green Tea,  and Garlic 7-10 days prior to the procedure. These drugs and herbs may cause excessive bleeding or bruising.

Post Botox/ Dysport – Keep your head above your heart for at least 5 hours.  No laying down flat or face down until that time.    No yoga, massage, facial or anything where your head will be lower than your heart or level with your heart for any sustained period of time.

No exercise after your treatment for the rest of the day.

Do not wear a cap, hat or visor that will put pressure on the treated area for the rest of the day after your treatment.

Do not massage or put sustained pressure on the treated area for the rest of the day following your treatment.

The small “bumps” in the injection area will resolve usually within 5-10 minutes of injection.   At times if one area is slightly tender or lasts longer it can be a slight bruise in that area and will resolve in a few days.

Full results of your treatment can take up to 14 days (but can happen sooner).  During this time, it can change some as it takes effect, and this is totally normal.

Results typically last 3-4 months but individual variability does exist

You can apply ice afterward to any bruised area or tender area, but this is not required.

Bruising can happen.  We don’t like it, but it is a needle in skin.  It will heal.

Touch ups when needed can be done two weeks after your treatment but not sooner.

Administration can trigger headahces the day of or even a few days after injection.  These are self-limiting and will get better.  You can take tylenol or ibuprofen if needed.

Call for any severe or atypical symptoms that you feel are related to your treatment for further evaluation. 918-927-2618

Filler Pre-Procedure Instructions

Avoid taking Aspirin, Excedrin, Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) such as Motrin for 5 days prior to procedure.

Avoid any alcohol consumption for 5-7 days before your procedure.

Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Ginko Biloba, St Johns Wart, Ginseng, Glucosamine, Green Tea, and Garlic 7-10 days prior to the procedure. These drugs and herbs may cause excessive bleeding or bruising.

Eat at least 1 cup of fresh pineapple or pineapple juice for 3 days prior to appointment. (the enzyme it contains can help prevent bruising and swelling)

Arnica Montana (found at any health food store) as directed (usually 5 tablets under the tongue 3 times a day) will also help prevent bruising and swelling and is highly recommended.

Plan your schedule accordingly.  Plan to have bruising and swelling after your treatment.

Must wait 2 weeks after any vaccine to have filler.

No dental procedures 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after fillers (including routine cleaning)

Filler Post-Procedure Instructions

Avoid excessive heat such as saunas, hot showers, the hot sun or cooking over a hot stove on the day of your treatment and for several days following. This may cause the blood vessels to dilate and cause more bleeding and bruising.

Avoid strenuous exercise after the procedure. This may raise your blood pressure and pulse causing more bruising and swelling.

Avoid direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. Wear sun block to protect your skin. Sunlight may cause permanent discoloration after bruising.

Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours after treatment. Alcohol may cause the blood vessels to dilate and cause more bruising.

If lips are treated avoid straw drinking immediately after your treatment and do not chew or bite on your lips as this can displace filler.

No massages of the area treated or with your face in a massage cradle for 2 weeks after treatment.

Avoid taking Advil, Vitamin E, Ginger, Ginko, Bilboa, Ginseng, and Garlic for several days after the procedure since this may increase the risk of bruising. You may shower and do most other regular daily activities.  You can take Tylenol afterward for any discomfort you are experiencing.

Developing guidelines recommend avoiding make up application for 12 hours post treatment to reduce the possible risk of bacterial contamination and potential infection. If you choose to please use clean brushes & sponges.  If you had lips done and must use a lipstick or gloss buy new product to use.  Getting makeup in injection points may cause infection or nodules.

You may apply cold compresses to the treatment sites to help reduce swelling and bruising.

We recommend Arnica Montana pills or gel to prevent bruising post treatment and help bruising resolve quicker.

Note that any bumps or marks from the extremely small needle sticks will go away within a few hours. If you do develop a bruise it will resolve like any other bruise. There is occasionally some mild pain, swelling, itching, or redness at the site of injection similar to most other injections. Redness may last for 1-2 days, rarely longer.

Call the office immediately for any severe or worsening pain, atypical swelling, rash, blister or sore that occurs in the region of treatment.

Mineral based sunscreen with SPF of 30 should be applied and reapplied every 60-90 minutes while outdoors.

Drink plenty of water, avoid make-up and use only the product of moisturizer we give you. You may reapply the moisturizer repeatedly through out the day. Stay away from exfoliants or glycolic acids that are present in cleansers as these can make your skin very dry after the procedure. *** If you had PRP applied, do not wash off the PRP solution until bedtime or morning after your treatment***

Pre-care Instructions: To Prepare for the blood draw associated with PRP Therapy

  • PRP Therapy is very safe because cells from the patient’s own blood are used, which means there are no preservatives and no chance of the body rejecting the cells.  The primary risks and discomforts are related to the blood drawn where there is a slight pinch to insert the needle for collection and there is a potential for bruising at the site.
  • For optimal results and to decrease the chance of bruising at the draw site, please avoid all over the counter blood thinning medications and herbal supplements for 1 week prior to your appointment.  Avoid taking Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications(NSAIDS) such as Ibuprofen, Motrin and Aleve.  In addition, very high doses of some vitamins and supplements can thin your blood and increase the chance of bruising.  Please notify your provider if you are taking Coumadin, Plavix, or any other prescription blood thinners for medical condition.
  • Do not apply topical scalp treatments (Minoxidil, Rogaine, Nioxin ect.) the day of your treatment
  • Do not have any at home or professional salon treatments including color or foils 48hrs before your treatment
  • Come to clinic with clean hair do not use styling products the day of your treatment (hairspray, mousse or gel) You may wear hat after treatment if desired.
  • Please eat within 2hrs of your scheduled appointment and drink PLENTY of water for 24hrs before treatment.
